The Big Read is a program of the National
Endowment for the Arts, designed to revitalize the role of literature in
American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and
enlightenment. The
Big Read supports organizations across the country in developing community-wide
reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse
audiences.
The Fulton Country/Atlanta community will be reading A Lesson Before
Dying by Ernest Gaines. Five book copies are held by Ocee Branch and other
formats are available in the AFPL system. Gaines is also the author of The
Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.
The Alpharetta Branch AFPL will host a screening of the film adaptation
Thursday February 7 at 4:00 p.m. Enjoy the film with refreshments and good
