Afterschool for Teens

Back To School Teen Health PackageAccording to the Afterschool Alliance:
  • -Approximately 14 million middle and high school students are on their own after school.
  • -8 in 10 Americans want all children and teens to have some type of organized activity or safe place to go after school.
  • -The hours between 3 and 6 p.m. are the peak hours for juvenile crime and experimentation with drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes.

Libraries have a history of meeting the needs of teens. In fact, the Teen Advisory Board is meeting Thursday 15 August at 5pm.  770-360-8897 or  carla.burton@fultoncountyga.gov for more info.

Librarians are available to help with digital technology. To start the school year, an Intro to Database Research - Student Edition is scheduled on Wednesday 14 August at 6 pm.

Ocee has a "YA" section with age appropriate fiction and non-fiction. There's also a great study space.
