|Red Coats at North Bridge, Concord|
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The 3rd Monday in April is Patriots Day in Massachusetts; commemorating the Battles of Lexington & Concord on 19 April 1775. These battles signaled the start of the Revolutionary War.
