Is the 'loo' the only quiet place in your house? A recent survey finds that 63% of Americans read in the 'john', with 86% of men reporting it's where they do the most reading. Magazines are the reading material of choice. 75% take their phones in the bathroom - to text, talk, read emails, or use social media.

This mutli-tasking comes with risks, though. Microbes can live on plastic surfaces (phones, e-readers, plastic book covers) for hours. Prolonged sitting on the toilet can cause painful hemorrhoids.
