The Doña Ana County Government Center in New Mexico has an unusual library. There are no books. Instead, the county partners with local animal shelters and installed a "cat library". Employees can "check out" kitties to take back to their office. Productivity may suffer, but employee satisfaction is up. This plan also provides cats with opportunities for socialization, which makes them more likely to be adopted. With so many people passing through the lobby each day, 100 cats have been adopted since the program began 3 years ago!
