“When fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.” Salem’s Lot, 1975

“When we read with a child, we are doing so much more than teaching him to read or instilling in her a love of language. We are doing something that I believe is just as powerful, and it is something that we are losing as a culture: by reading with a child, we are teaching that child to be human.”
Thanks to all our book sale shoppers! We hope you'll enjoy your purchases through the cooler months to come. The money Ocee Friends raises helps buy programming and books for the library. BIG thanks to our volunteers!
