Pepper Zhang

Four year old Madison Zhang loves to read, but noticed none of the characters she read about looked like her. Disappointed, she told her dad that she didn't want to be Chinese anymore. Her dad is a non-published fiction writer and decided to write books for his daughter. "While it's important for children to learn about their cultures through books," he writes on the project's Kickstarter page, "it's equally important for Asian children to see themselves represented in books as interesting and smart individuals rather than just products of their cultures."
