'In reading, you get to feel things, visit places and worlds you would never otherwise know. You learn that everyone else out there is a me, as well. Empathy is a tool for building people into groups, for allowing us to function as more than self-obsessed individuals' Neil Gaiman
Libraries, school, and bookshops in Britain are observing Empathy Day 12 June! Because scientific research shows the power of books to build real-life empathy, the focus is on using books as a tool to challenge prejudice and build connections between us all.
READ - because reading in itself can make us more empathetic
SHARE - because sharing books can connect us in new ways
DO - put empathy into action and make a difference in your community
