Take It From Teigen

Model, author,“Bring the Funny” judge, and social media master Chrissy Teigen posted on Twitter that she visited the library with her 3 year old for story time...

I just went to the public library for the first time in *23* years. I could not believe my eyes. Did group storytelling with Luna, ran around hiding in nooks and crannies, got inspired by 1 million cookbooks and spotted many a difference in a highlights magazine. was awesome. https://t.co/4wR0tdD5UL— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) August 7, 2019

“seriously. go to the library,” she wrote in another tweet. “It’s a delight.”

Teigen also invited equinox and soulcycle members to instead "meet her at the library. bring weights" or to "ride your bike to the library".

You don't even need weights, just meet by the encyclopedias

Libraries are good for circulation.

Beloved

By Aaron Robertson
August 6, 2019, 10:01am

Toni Morrison, the prolific author of such classics as Beloved and Song of Solomon, died Monday night at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She was 88 years old.

Morrison had an outsized influence on American letters for decades, culminating in 1993 when she became the first African-American to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. Three years later, the National Book Foundation awarded her the Medal of Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. In 2012, President Barack Obama presented Morrison with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Morrison was known for her groundbreaking contributions as an editor at Random House from 1967 to 1983. She was the first African-American woman to hold an editorial position in the company’s history. Morrison also held teaching positions at Howard University, Yale, Bard College, SUNY Purchase, Rutgers, and Princeton.

In a statement, Morrison’s family said: “It is with profound sadness we share that, following a short illness, our adored mother and grandmother, Toni Morrison, passed away peacefully last night surrounded by family and friends. She was an extremely devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt who reveled in being with her family and friends. The consummate writer who treasured the written word, whether her own, her students or others, she read voraciously and was most at home when writing. Although her passing represents a tremendous loss, we are grateful she had a long, well lived life.”

5 Star Blender Review

Osterizer Classic Series 10 Cycle Blender by Emily Everett

..My husband and I received this blender for a wedding present in 1975, in a color called Harvest Gold, though it’s really more chartreuse than gold. My mother-in-law ordered it from the Sears catalog with a 10-year warranty—she told me, I think, to make sure I knew just how much she’d spent on it, how much she could afford to spend on it. But I can assure you we never needed that warranty (and the joke’s on her in the end, since the Osterizer has far outlived her)... Continue reading the flash fiction here.
