The Friends of the Ocee Library is a non-profit support group whose purpose is:

  • to cultivate a closer relationship between the community and the library,
  • to promote knowledge of library services and resources, and
  • to provide financial and volunteer assistance for special library needs and events, such as:

Books

* The Friends of the Ocee Library collect and sort book donations. Books that are in good condition and fit the needs of the library are given to the library to be catalogued and shelved for circulation. The library is in need of hardcover science fiction, young adult books, and children's chapter books.

* Books that cannot go into the collection are sold at the used book sales to raise money for the library's needs.

* We buy and donate new books, particularly bestsellers.

The Friends of the Ocee Library have donated a collection of local interest books in Dr. Fulton's honor. The collection includes local history (Alpharetta and Georgia), Georgia politics, and other topics of local interest. This unique collection is housed in a special bookcase next to the Reference Desk. If you have book suggestions, or would like to donate a book to the collection please email the Friends.

Furniture

Bookshelves Spinners Bookcases & Bulletin Boards
* The Friends have purchased new furniture from Big Cozy Books for children (and adults) to enjoy in the Ocee Library. Come by the Children's section to see our new "books".

* We hope to find donors to fund study booths for the teen section. If you would like to make a donation, please email the Friends.

Programs

The Friends pay for programs such as children's summer reading, a visit of the mini horses from Healing Hooves, and string puppeteer Peter Hart.
